Who is Carroll Thomas?

        Carroll Thomas is the pen name of two writers: Carole Shmurak and Tom Ratliff. Carole is a former professor of secondary education who writes mystery novels and conducts book discussion groups throughout Connecticut.   Tom Ratliff is a social studies teacher and a Civil War buff who writes young adult adventure stories for the Newspapers in Education program and has written for Salariya Books of London as well as the National Geographic Society, Scholastic Books, and Barrons. He has master's degree in Early American History and a second master's in Library Science and has done post-graduate work in American literature, maritime history, and graphic design. He teaches at Central Connecticut State University and online for several Connecticut community colleges. He is currently researching a book on Connecticut's role in the American Revolution.
